National Premier Soccer League (NPSL)

The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is the successor of the Men’s Premier Soccer League (MPSL). The MPSL was a regional men’s soccer league formed in 2002 designed to provide men with a highly competitive league from teams in the western states of California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Idaho. In the 2005 season, the MPSL was recreated into the NPSL, an expanded national league to accommodate teams from all over the nation including 22 teams in 2007. In 2008, there will be 35 teams with the addition of the 5 new teams in the Southeast region and 7 new teams in the Northeast region. The Southeast region includes teams in Mobile, Birmingham, Atlanta, Greenville (SC) and Charlotte (NC).

Each team plays a minimum of 10 to a maximum of 20 regular season games. The teams are comprised of players who play at the highest levels of soccer available to men.  This highly competitive league helps all the teams gain access to elite players to fill their team roster, including but not limited to National Team, former and current University and College, foreign, amateur, former professional and youth players.

The NPSL is sanctioned by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) as an affiliate of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the ruling body for soccer in the United States and FIFA, the world’s governing body for soccer. Integrity, Success and Longevity is what the National Premier Soccer League stands for. What makes the NPSL unique is that the owners of the teams comprise the ownership and operation of the league. The structure of the league will allow each participating team to have one vote on the executive committee. Each team is owned and operated individually and is responsible for maintaining league minimum standards and for raising its own operating cash. The existing team owners, that comprise the league management team, approve all new teams who desire to join the league. Their website is

NPSL Premier Team

There are currently 30 teams in the NPSL in four divisions with an expansion planned for 2008 to the Southeast region adding at least 5 additional teams. This is the highest level of amateur soccer in Georgia designed to provide the highest level of competition during May, June and July. A 40-person player pool will be established for the team. The player pool will include but is not limited to local men’s league players, talented high school age players, current and former college players, foreign players and former professionals. The team will compete in the NPSL Southeast Region and the US Open Cup. We will also host exhibition games with Mexican and other US league teams.

Community Involvement

The Atlanta NPSL franchise will be deeply involved with the community, both on and off the field. The team will be the premier amateur club in the state of Georgia, and will serve as a valuable proving ground for the state’s future professional players. The franchise will also work the Soccer In The Streets’ project Escuela de Vida, which has been recognized by FIFA as a part of its Football for Hope Movement. This involvement will lead to deserving young men and women in the community earning valuable experience in professional soccer management.
